Description

Circular cups with flower and gilt outline pattern; flared rim; bulbous body divided by ten ribs, short stem, circular, flared foot; C-shaped scroll handle with top of curve ending in an animal head and scroll drops to anthemion terminus; decoration consists of white background with gilt wide band inside cup rim, gilt line at exterior neck, stem and dividing the ten ribs, a wide gilt band circles foot; polychrome floral devices appear within each section; devices include: Full blown pink rose, blue forget-me-nots; pink rosebuds.

Mark appears on reverse: Blue crossed swords and inscribed underglaze "280"; in red ink, 6 cups have "13" near rim; MP.87.1246 has a round paper label attached, printed in black ink "C. LEVIELE/ 12 E. 37th St. N.Y." and pencilled "7215".
