Note

Object was accessioned in March 2010 and assigned 2010 accession number; acquired earlier. Found in box in UC storage with note dated 8/22/2002: "UC Storage Project/ noticed red wool cape in garment box with label that reads 'repro'? Unusual history: It is an artifact: I assume it is not cataloged. (it was a special purchase made by interpretion department for use as a clothing prototype prior to 1979.) I believe that it is early 19th century. We should check annual reports to see if is it listed. Action: It should be cataloged as a regular curatorial object and packed properly w/ acid free paper." Kate Johnson confirmed this information and agreed the date of object may be later than originally thought. Object was assigned an SS accession number. Cataloged, labeled and repacked, March 2010.
