General Notes

Note Type

Curatorial Remarks

Note

Interesting adaption of Chippendale by rural Hudson River Valley artisan. Its squat form suggests the Dutch-influenced origin further indicated by the colors of the paint; its shutter-like doors, with a beaded molding found on window-shutters of the Hudson River Valley, tend to point to a carpenter as its maker.
