Purple velvet, book shaped frame with brass clasp, full face view of man: waist-length portrait, full side whiskers, cheeks and lips tinged pink; light overcoat; dark coat, vest, and tie; light shirt front; gilt brass mat with stamped oval border; glass cover; gilt border; velvet case; white silk lining; stamped mark on mat, left corner "WHITEHURST".
