PEOPLE Colonel [Robert?] Troup, Jacob R. V Renfselaer, Chancellor
[John] Lansing, Aaron Burr, Chief Justice [Morgan] Lewis, Sarah
(“Sally”) Rutsen Schuyler
Albany Sunday Feb’y 26~ 1804
My Dear Child,
Yesterday Colo' Troup called on me to / know if the surveys of all the farms in Hillsdale / had been made, and if so that the surveys ought without / any delay to be sent to the Arbitrators, That If all the / farms had not been surveyed, yet the Surveys of [each/such] / as had must be sent up, and the surveys of the others / compleated afsoon as pofsible_ I have written [fully?] to / Mr Jacob R. V Renfselaer on this subject, but apprehen- / -sive that from the usual inattention a compliance / with the request may be delayed, and injurous results / produced, I intreat you to repair to Claverack, procure / the surveys which have been made and bring or send / them to me, and to take measures for compleating/ the residue._
Chancellor Lansing who was nominated by / the Clintonians as a candidate for the chain of Govern- / ment, first accepted, and then declined, having been / indelicately treated in the publication announcing / his nomination._ this measure has been Injurous to / the [views?] of the Clintonians and favorable to Mr Burr / as Chief Justice Lewis is now the Clintonian candidate / and will certainly not have an equal [^so many] number of / Federal votes as would have been given to Mr Lansing._
We are all well and unite in Love to You / Sally & the Children I am My Dear Child /
Most affectionately Yours
