Dear Sir
On Saturday I called on Coll: Barber with / the Certificate for Wood and Townsends Account of / Property taken from the Neck but find that nothing / can be Obtained from him on there Vouchers. As he informs / me the demands must be liquidated by the heads of the / respective departments. It will be necessary therefore / for Mr. Rooney to get all there matters settled with Coll / Pickering the Quarter Master General who I am told is / in Philadelphia. Mr. Rooney must be satisfied for his / trouble and Expences in getting there Affairs liquidated / and the sooner they are settled the better as nothing / will be got by letting them remain in this present situation. /
I inclose the two certificates for the woo[-d? Cutt?]. Coll / Barber Advertises that he will remain at Poughkeepsie / Untill the first of November. With respectfull complements / to Mrs. Cortland + family. I am with Esteem.
Dr Sir. Your most humble Ser’t
