Dear Sir
Since you went from here Mr James / Cortlandt has been here and also Mr. David / Gardner one of Marys Brothers.
Yesterday morning Croton River began to / rise and has broke up the Ice from the Mill / to Franks Rock on the South Side and below / the Bridge on the North Side __ leaving the / main Body of Ice with a vast Number of / cakes on it scattered about Some almost as / low down as the meadow Creek
It would have pleased me verry much / if you had been here to have Seen it, the / impetuosity of the Water in the Various direc / tions it took carrying the Small cakes of Ice / with it and breaking in and upon the main / Body _ presented a grand aspect
I hope it will continue snowing untill the / Haying is good _ as we are anxious to see / you and will be verry happy whenever / it shall please Grandpapa to return /
With my best Respects to Uncle + Aunt Beekman I
Am your Affectionate Grandson
