My Dear Child
Rensselaer this day found your / letter of the 15~ Instant to me at Wendells Hotel._
We were anxiously looking out for You & Sally, and / had been so since friday last._
Your sister Margret has been extremely anxious / to pay you a visit but has been prevented by the / Gout of which she is still not entirely freed,_
If the ulcers in my knee and thigh had permitted / me to venture abroad, I should have been with you / accompanied by Your Mama and Philip, who is / really become a fine manly boy, and whom you / would find It more difficult to retain from me, than / he was reluctant to remain,_
I believe the Elections in this quarter have
[END OF PAGE 1]
terminated agreeably to our wishes,_
we all Join in love & the compliments of / the Season to you & Yours, Godbless you /
Yours most affectionately
