Dr Sir
Your note dated 12th Aug / reached me yesterday. Your information relative to the old / Mill is not correct, business just not is in too / precarious a position to make any new investments.
There is a point of Wood land / above “Cato’s Rock” (my boundary in the farm) I should like to / purchase - I want as soon as the season will allow to / run a fence from “Old Jack’s” lane to Joneses Meadow and / as the property joins yours, you will have to go to the expense / of building half — . If you will ride up at your / convenience I will show you the point I speak of, and / should you feel disposed to sell it I will have it / survey’d at once and go to the whole expense of the / line fence. My reason for wishing to purchase is – I cannot / well make a fence as my line runs across the point of rocks / where it would be almost impossible to draw stone - the / place where I want to put the fence would be our / advantage to you and I - and as the woodland [^ xx] is now / situated it is only a profit to other people —
Yours very respectfully
Wm. [Eagleton?]
