London Feb’y 10th 1802.
Sir,
Immediately after the receipt of your letter, I / took measures to inquire of the widow of the late Judge Jones con- / cerning the marriage contract to which you refer. Mrs Jones / remembers to have heard of the Paper but has no knowledge / that it was ever in her husband’s possession; and thinks it / more likely, that it went [^ with his father’s Papers] into the hands of her deceased / Brother James Delancey. Upon this suggestion I have written / to the Executors of James Delancey for the purpose / of ascertaining whether the contract can he found among / his Papers, as yet I have not received any answer, as / soon as this shall be the case I will not fail to apprise / you of it __
With great respect
I have the honour to be
