My dear Sister,
I set down to inform you, the Eliza / and I are very well, and I am very sorry that I could not / send word soon enough for you to come down and go a / sailing with us on the fourth of July; the Misses Delavan / Miss Dawson and all the young ladies went over to Perry’s / Landing and we visited the Lake on the mountain picking / up some shells on the shore, and enjoying ourselves very much in / taking the sail across the river. Miss Mary and two of / the young ladies came from New York on thursday. I am / leaning Yankee Doodle, and Paddy Cary, and I expect / to play them both very well for you when you came down here, / the Misses Delavan and all the young ladies are very / well. I send my love [^ to] Papa, Mama; and all the rest of / the family. I remain your affectionate Sister
