My very Dear Child,
It affords me great consolation that / I have a child who reasons so correctly on / the Events with which life is chequered, as you do._ I / have had too many evidences of the tender Attachment / of my Catherine to me, to apprehend any future / source of pain from her, as far as shall depend on / [her]self, and I trust she will inspire her husband / with the sentiments she entertains, In this belief / I shall be kind to & cherich both. that I may / not experience the pain which my own reflections / would create, from a contrary conduct towards / them_
It will be necefsary for me to proceed to / Albany, without stopping with you, but I shall / not have been there any considerable time / before I do myself the pleasure of paying / you a visit.
I shall leave this on Thursday or friday next_
Altho no postive results can be appreciated / as to peace or war between Britain and France, yet / those who have the best means to direct their conclu- / -sions, believe that Hostilities will soon commence; / If not already commenced.__
Embrace My daughter and Your Children most / tenderly for me, Your Sisters all unite in love,
[END OF PAGE 1]
with me to you and them,_
May Indulgent heaven bestow those / Blessings on you & yours which are ardently / solicited by My Dear Dear Child your
affectionate parent
