Dear Sir, Staatsberg 5th July 1811
The last time I had the pleasure of seeing / you, you expressed a wish to have a small flock / of mixed breed Ewes. I have two or three and thirty of / that description consisting of -/2 -/4 & 3/8 Ewes, all / very fine, which I will let you have at Six / dollars a head, and will lend with them, for the / month of October, a full bred Ram_ The Ewes / to be delivered as soon as they have weaned their / Lambs, and the money payable at Six months / thereafter. They are at my mill farm, and I / will venture to say they are as fine as any in / the State of the same blood. Indeed I might Say / Superior, for they are Sprung from full bred / H[ire]fordshire Sheep.
your Ob’t Serv’t
M Lewis
If you accede to this proposal, / it is to be understood, the Ram / is to go to no other Ewes.
