My Dear Mama
I have received papa and Catharine’s letter / some time since and have neglected answering th-[??em ??] but they / must consider this as an answer although addressed to you and / I hope they will write me [^ again] soon Since I wrote you I have enjoyed / good health and spirits and regularly my drawing / and french school accepting two or three days when the / weather prevented The winter with me has passed / rapidly away + I can scarcely realize announce - / ment of spring I have attended two dancing School / Balls within the last two weeks and enjoyed them / very much and regretted for the first time that I could / not dance The little boys belonging to Mr Halls School / consisting of about fifty attended accompanied by / their teachers I assure you it was a handsome and / and pleasing sight to observe their elegant dancing / and gentlemanly deportment even those of eight / years old appeared perfectly like gentlemen. _
Uncle David talks seriously of buying a farm on the / westend of Long Island and Aunt Julianna Mrs Edwards / and myself spent one day last week in riding to Flush - / ing and Jamaica to view the different places adver - / tised for sale I enjoyed the excursion very much [well] / Although I think Uncle David had better conclude / to go some where up the north river. I called last evening
[END OF PAGE 1]
At Uncle Samuels they are all very well and Sarah / Gardiner is making them a visit I hear nothing / from Uncle Pierre to inform you of some time since / I was informed that he was very unwell but as I have / not heard of him lately I presume he is better. Aunt / Mary wishes me to call there with her which I have / engage to do the first pleasant day if she is well / enough. I was much pleased to learn from Catha-[^rines] / letter that Courtlandt and the children were / making such rapid advances in their studies / I should be delighted to see little David who has / probably by this time grown quite out of my knowledge / and Pierre too must have improved very much in his / talking give my love to Grandmama Uncle General papa / and the children
Your affectionate daughter
