My Dear Brother
I received your letter some time / since but as you said you were going to leave / Pensacola in a few days and would be absent a month / I thought it best not to answer your letter until you / had time to return as it would only be laying in the / office there. There was one come for Eliza a few days / before mine which I sent to her and I believe she / has answered it, She is in the city. She writes it is quite / gay there at present and that she is enjoying herself / very much, but I presume she has told you all the city / news herself as she says she has written to you. __ /
Catharine returned home on Saturday she is very / well and appears to be quite glad to get home again / after her long visit. __ I received a letter from / Albany a few day since Ann was very well Aunt was /

The river though is open / at last and it appears quite delightful to have the steamboats / back again after being so long shut up, we have a morning / and evening boat, the Mount Pleasant has been sold and / we have the [Frank] now for the evening boat. __
