The Willows 8th March 1845
Dr Sir
I must again call attention to the water / artificially brought thro your grounds _ + discharged upon the / road leading in front of our Garden to your house + Dr Brandeths / In “the right of way” which you have in that road - there is no / right given or implied to use it for any other purpose. Nei -/ ther ourselves nor Dr. B would object to your making a covered / sluice to conduct the water from the point where you have / made it to fall into the road _ making the sluice directly / or Even somewhat obliquely acrofs the road + so getting rid of / this water _ by discharging it there into the River. [END OF PAGE 1]
Our fence _ which cost a great deal _ is almost uprooted _ de / :destroyed. As a neighbour + friend I feel persuaded you will / at once see the reasonablenefs + nicenefs of this call _ + relieve / us from further injury _ In hopes of an Early answer,
I remain Dr Sir Yr [fr’r??] + Obt: Sv’t
