My Dear Child
With an interval of only two days / I have been confined to my bed from the / time your children left me, and within the / three last days, have experienced as severe an / attack in the stomach & head, as I have ever / had, it is happily retired to the extremes, and / now only moderately affects me._
Gen’l Hamilton has informed me that he will / be at Claverack to attend the arbitrators, but in / a subsequent letter of the [1?] instant, I am / informed he was indisposed with a remittant / but still hope he will attend._
It is not probably that I shall be able to leave / my bed before the day appointed for the meeting / of the arbitrators-
Mr. Jacb. R V.Rensselaer has twice passed thru /
[END OF PAGE 1]

Caty unites with me in love to you & yours / adieu my Dear Child
I am most affectionately
