MP.96.3Description
Sketch for an octagonal garden house for Montgomery Place in the rustic style; single story, frontal view. Peaked roof capped with diagonal stile, onion dome and angel finial. Roof has tall projecting triangular grates. Thick, upturned cornice. Outer walls have rustic log-like columns at each corner. Arched doorway has same with vegital capital, then scalloping around arch. Windows just have log detail. Two windows flank doorway, otherwise one per side. Through doorway, center table with triangular, rustic base is visible. Below is floor plan showing longer front and back walls. Inscribed below: "12 ft. long, 8 ft. wide on left; scale 1/2 inch to foot" on right. "5 or 6 inches diameter" with arrow to top right exterior column. Top right corner is a sketch of a tree branch. Top left corner "3/8ths sq r=room/in bundles of 56 lb/ prices vary - average $2.50.Made/Created
