Anna Margaretta Forbes Irvine's surviving works reveal her to be a skilled artist deserving of more recognition outside her home county. Her sketchbook of the Scottish countryside and her later views of her home, Drum Castle, display a mastery of lighting and an eye for unusual compositions. More examples of her work can be found in the National Trust of Scotland's collection at Drum Castle and inthe fifth volume of the famous work by MacGibbon and Ross, The Castellated and Domestic Architecture of Scotland (1892).
