Description

Black and white framed photographic (three-quarter seated) portrait of Elsie Funkhauser (second wife of John Ross Delafield). She wears a long white dress and holds a rose in her right hand. Light pencil lines can be observed to darkened the background and shade the lower part of her dress. She wears a large jeweled pin and a matching choker. The oval-shaped frame is made of wood which is painted gold to take the appearance of metal. The moldings, located at the top, bottom, and either side of the figure, have floral motifs with one large half flower in the center (partly obscured by a double scroll which slopes outward). There is a beaded pattern along the inner edge of the oval frame. The backing is a stiff board and the hinged stand is of brass.
