Description

An engraving by James Eddy of nine eminent American living poets, each in their own roundel surrounded by graceful leafy scrolled ornamentation and rosettes. The composition is arranged in an oval and is symmetrical. The central portrait of Percival is slightly larger than the encircling eight. An eagle tops off the oval and two quills crossed through a lyre at the bottom. The print is mounted to a piece of cardboard. Poets include: Halleck, Pinckney, Brooks, Wordsworth, Irving, Pierpont, Sprague, Bryant and Percival
