Remarks: Treatment Report: Reduced loose dust and grime with a vacuum and bristle brush. Further cleaned the surface with an aqueous mild detergent solution and rinsed well with distilled water. Dried rapidly with a heat gun to mitigate corrosion. Made a mold of the existing rear leg and reproduced the missing leg in cast iron. Since it was decided with the curator to reproduce the leg in cast iron, a bit more robust connection system was employed. The leg sections were drilled to accept a 3/16" x 1 1/2" stainless steel pin. The pin was secure and the leg sections joined with PC-7 epoxy putty. Injected all cracks with a reversible acrylic resin to consolidate joins and help secure old mends. Filled cracks and bridged losses with PC-7 epoxy putty. Painted new leg and putty fills with Liquitex Colours to match the chair color. Coated all surfaces with Golden Brand UVS matte acrylic resin in mineral spirits.
