Description

Green wool livery jacket with red trim and brass buttons: the left shoulder is decorated with a gold braided epaulet which drapes down the length of the left arm, ending in two cone shaped brass fittings; the collar ascends high on the neck and is red; there are five quarter size gilted buttons on both the right and left breast of the jacket; the cuffs are red and have three buttons each, arranged vertically; the cut-in is square and at normal waist level; the coattails are broad, short and squared at the ends; each tail has one pleat with a button at the top near the small of the back and one at the end of the tail; there are two false pockets on the back, each with a flap and four gold buttons; buttons are decorated with a ship, a crest, and a banner reading "Spero meliora"; inside of tails are red; inside of jacket is a tan color of cotton fabric; sides and breast of jacket thickly padded; left breast has deep inside pocket.

Remarks: Details of condition: Back of collar has rip in seam and three small holes. Back has multiple holes, small in size, some rips in braided epaulet. Some small holes on both sleeves. Holes and one rip on right breast near button holes. Button holes on left breast have small rips in fabric.
