Description

Commemorative handled jug with bulbous body: slender multiple reeded neck glazed in manganese purple, widening into a globular body incised with scrolling lines and interlocking circles surrounding a medallion on the front containing the blue letters "GR" above a winged cherub's head and below a crown flanked by rampant eagles, directly opposite a C-shaped handle curving from the neck to the shoulder of the body, which tapers to a slender foot-ring; overall grayish-blue color, with designs on the front in gray on a cobalt blue background and on the back in blue on a gray background. The bottom is thumbed, with no wire marks; and the body bears shallow vertical ridges in the clay from the base of the neck to the mid-point of the belly.
