Hand colored engraving of the tomb of Kosciusko atop a rocky ledge overlooking a body of water in shades of dark green, brown, biege, and grey: the tomb, a pale grey monument with a column at its apex, and the inscription "Kosciusko", is surrounded by an iron gate and sits atop a rocky, tree covered ledge on far left; two men in top hats with walking sticks stand conversing with their backs to the monument; one is pointing his stick in the direction of the tomb; another man, whose body is partially hidden from view, sits adjacent to the two conversing men; two additional figures stand, one with arm across the other's back, on far side of ledge overlooking the trees and lake in background; tiny sailboats dot the water's grey surface; two buildings sit on the opposite shore; green rolling hills are seen in the distance beyond the lake; a grey sky with paler grey cloud wisps, hovers above; below the scene, on far left corner, is written "W.H.Bartlett"; on far right corner is written "R. Wallis"; in center is title "Kosciusko's Monument"; on back in upper left corner is written in pencil, "77".Artwork Details
