Description

Square lantern with cut corners (thus forming eight sides) rests on 4 bulbous feet which taper to points; glass sides are framed by sheet brass cut in scalloped designs; a row of 3 cut out, abstract tulips' heads top each of the 4 sides; one of the 4 sides is a door with a handle with an elongated knob; the sections of brass are joined by small, copper rivets; projecting moldings run around the top and bottom of the sides; each of the 8 corners is decorated by a brass finial at the top; the brass section at the base of the top bears cut out pinwheels, dots and "C-curves"; the top of the lantern is very bulbous, it swells twice with the larger swelling at the bottom; a brass collar attached with rivets connects this with a flaring element bearing cut out "C-curves"; a double "S-curved" handle tops the lantern.
