Dear Mr Irving
I send you herewith a / very shabby volume that you / will probably value because it / has Goldys play under its first / title of “Mistakes of a Night”.
You may like passages to / compare it with the later copies, / although I doubt if Goldsmith / had any time for revision at the / period of life when he wrote this play.
The other volume contains / the letter of the “Jessamy Bride” - / and is I imagine “the first appearance / of it in any” volume – The letter
[END OF PAGE 1]
Of [Crabbe to Burke?] is not / printed in the edition of his / works edited by his son __
It appears to be a sequel / to the first he wrote to [Burke?] / a letter which I think the / most touching of any in the / English language - It almost / [??] me to read even now that /
The [page folded, illegible] of [Cha’s] / Lee is intimating
I am dear Mr Irving
Very faithfully yours
Alfred Pell
