Right Rev’d + [Quachi?]
When Mr Irving left the / firm of Irving and [Livingston?] at / Saugerties in February 1835 he adverti=/ -sed the Difsolution of the Partnership in / Papers of the County + the State Paper / at Albany - There was one dealer in / New York who says he never heard of / his [Mr. P Irving’s] withdrawal from the firm and now / calls upon Mr I. for Payment of a Debt / contracted long after the Difsolution _ Mr / Irving thinks it his duty to commu- / nicate every incident that may touch / his standing in society to you _ and / therefore mentions this _ I beg him to / take with him this note of explanation / as from my knowledge of this Circum - / stances I can without hesitation say / that Mr Irving is as innocent as any / other Individual, of blame in this trans - / action, and that no Injury can result / to him from it _
With perfect respect
Your friends + humble ser’t
