My dear Sir,
I received yours covering Mr Coopers papers _ all / right _ he will be received and I have so said to our good / bishop, tho’ the case may not be acted on before the Bishop / sets out on his visitation. Mr. Cooper may however consider it as / certain that at the first meeting he will pass. _
And now for another subject. Are you disposed to harken / to an invitation to become afsistant in St. Thomas to your un - / worthy friend on a salary of $2000 _ the house I now occupy?
If you be, will you let me Know at your earliest convenience? / If not, my dear Irving, I shall feel sure you act conscientiously / in declining _ Your labours as assistant would be the parochial / duty + half the preaching at least. In truth the whole parish / would be on your shoulders most of the time. _ I make this unqui- / ry in confidence + beg to have an early answer. _
Most affectionately Your
friend + brother
Francis L. Hawks
