My dear Willie,
Your poem is
/ charming. This gives /thanks to you in /advance of Bayard / Taylors. We have
/ [Inside Page Right] just returned
from /a trip to the Highlands / Loch Katrine,/ Ellen’s Isle, /Loch Lomond &
Loch / Aird. I
hooked / many a beautiful / trout in Loch Katrine. / I wish you could / have joined with me / on the old bridge / at
Abbotsford where / [Inside Page Left] Scott fixes
the arrest of Rob Roy / The old Inn now- called the / “Bailie Nichol Jarvie Inn”
is still / standing. We kept these for two / nights. It is a very lovely spot /
and as there was no visitors / but ourselves we could ponder/ and
idealize uninterruptedly- [Last Page] I am in excellent health which / I attribute
to drinking “Padua / Water” . You can get it at the/ [unrecovered]. It comes in
stone bottles. / It is wonderful for the liver. / Don’t fail to take it.
Almost / half a tumbler before breakfast. / It operates like medicine and [Front Page Crossed Writing] acts like a
charm on [depressed] / spirits. Take it about three / mornings & then stop
till you / require it again. It is the most / beastly stuff you ever tasted / Love
to Mrs. [unrecovered] / As ever / Joe [Referring to: Bailie Nicol Jarvie Inn]Transcriber
