Dear Mr. Delafield, /
I have yr of October 14th/ I fear that at this time I cannot / give you the information you / seek as to the coats of arms of / the D’Avezac, Barton & Hunt family. / All my papers are stored & I have / stored only my personal effects with me / & cannot search for anything. /
I am sending you a Bulletin of / the Boston Public Library, with a very / interesting acct of the Barton Library & / of Mrs Barton, (illegible word (s))
PAGE 2
My seal has only a “Talbot” hunting dog / & the letter H on it. Mr. Bartons / seal I gave to the Boston Library - / perhaps his book plate made from / the seal would interest you. I / think I put some of these in a / drawer of the old desk in the N.W. bedroom. /
The Davezacs were descended from / a Noblesse de (illegible word)” at Tardes in the / South of France. I do not know / their coat of arms. Their descendants, / the refugees from St Domingo, were / very democratic & indifferent to these things. /
PAGE 4
A very excellent history of that / family is to be found in Rose’s / Biographical Dictionary on the / shelves of any large public Library / should it interest you. /
With regards for Mrs. Delafield, & yrself, sincerely yrs,
Julia Barton Hunt
