Philad’a 16. July 1819
Dear Sir
Your [favour?] of the 1[6t]h Inst. is received. / Shall I deduct the coloured paper, / + binding of the 200 copies in sheets / from my note? The latter cost me / four cents per Copy + there were four / quires of Waste Paper (as it’s called) / recefsary in binding them. They are / small matters but it’s proper they should / be deducted. The Colored Paper I / pay cash for, and put it to you at / cost. I cannot get any of a royal size such as you detailed. It might / be got made by taking 12 or 15 reams. / I couldn’t say as to procuring you /
[END OF PAGE 1]
The 50 or 60 reams White paper at $7 / until I see the paper-maker. He lives / twenty miles from town, but generally calls / at my store when he comes in. I have paid / him the [750 cents] for the [?same?--ent?] for / Salmagundi.
[Bipps] was [sent into my / brother?] hope your letter was received. I / haven’t been able to find the [Lameat] tho’ it / is somewhere among my pamphlets.
I am sorry for this disappointment of the / hand made colored paper, but was, myself, / under the imprefsion it had gone.
With respect + esteem
[Yr ob svt]
M Thomas
