Much better when it is clear / and cold. Mr Morgan Grinnell / is much better and able to go / to his business, but does not / feel very strong, I am much / better than I was it took me / some time to get over the / shick from my fall and / Mifs Catharine will not let / me go out alone. I have been / not a short distance that last / two days, and tomorrow we are / to lunch at Mrs. Van Warts, she / would like to have us for dinner / but we cannot go any where / in the evening for by night time / I am tired and want to keep / quiet and go to bed early. /

Burned down, in last [Saturday] / Argus said they were burned / but saved the horses and / carriages that was all. I hope / you will all have a pleasant / New Year and keep well / this winter. It seems so / strange to me not to write to / Robert - or to get his letters for / he was always so particular / about writing and wrote such / nice letters and told a / great deal in them. I cannot / tell you how I feel if thinking / of the Cottage without him. / but i have no doubt - he’s / much happier [where] he is / now, free from pain and sicknefs. / remember me to all the household / and tell Katie we thank her very / much for her nice letter [??] /
