Received on February 4th. 1840.
My dear Mary.
I enclose a precious little billet which I received a day or two since and which I beg you to lorck up [company?] with my fifty guinea medal. I had some thoughts of having it treasured up among my papers in your fathers iron chest, but conflagrations are so frequent down here that I feared it might be burnt up.
Your afft uncle
W.I.
