My dear Pierre
Julia Sanders tells me you / or Hellen were expecting me in town / to morrow to attend a meeting on the / evening of the Cooper Committee. I / have received no notification of such / a meeting, and having no [zite?] / in town, do not and not feeling / in the most robust health just now / do not feel disposed to come to town / on an uncertainty. I wish you would / make this apology for me in case / there really should be a meeting
Your affectionately
Washington Irving
