Saratoga Aug 9th. 1853
My dear Sarah
I write merely to say that I shall leave Saratoga tomorrow morning in company with Mr Kennedy. We take the rail road for White Hall, then the steamer on Lake Champlain for Plattsburg or Rouses Point–Then the rail road to Ogdensburg– then a steamer for Oswego where we part; Kennedy continuing on to Buffalo, and I proceeding to Syracuse where I shall pass a day or so with the Baldwins–Then visit Charley for a day or two and then steer homeward.
My time has passed very pleasantly at Saratoga;〈though〉I dined a day or

two since at Mr John Hamiltons, with a very〈pl〉agreeable party and had the pleasure of sitting next to Marys friend Miss Danforth who looked very pretty although she wore no cap.
I have been hoping to recieve a letter from home given me an account of the state of affairs after the heavy rain of Saturday, which appears to have done so much damage in various places.
I shall leave orders to have any letters that may arrive for me, returned to Dearman
With love to all bodies
Your affectionate Uncle
