I have passed the morning on Goat Island–seen the falls at every point of view and shall set off this afternoon on the rail road for Cayuga bridge where [END OF PAGE 2] I shall take the steam boat tomorrow morning on Cayuga lake and stop at Charleys– Mr Kennedy goes this evening to Buffalo to visit Mr Fillmore. The weather is insufferably hot and I shall be glad to get at rest at Charleys where I can keep cool. I shall, however, stay there but a day or two for I am anxious to get home.
