My dear Sarah,
I have given Pierre M Irving a full power of attorney to act in my name, and have made arrangements with him for the conduct of my pecuniary affairs. You will draw on him therefore, from time to time, for such funds as may be requisite to keep every thing at the Cottage on the usual footing. Out of these funds you and your sisters [wh] will help yourselves, as circumstances may require, for your personal expenses, regulating yourselves by an allowance of one hundred dollars a year each, commencing on the 1st. of the present month of April. This allowance is to be in

addition to the dividends &c which you may receive from the Stocks which I hold [for] as trustee for you and your Sisters.
Let Pierre know some little time before hand, when you are about to draw on him, that he may provide the funds without inconvenience.
And now my dear, good little girl, God bless you! You have been like a daughter and an affectionate one to me, and so have all your Sisters; and have by your [affec] kind attentions made the years I have lived among you one of the happiest portions of my life. In a little while we shall come together again, better supplied I trust, with the ways and means of carrying on our simple little scheme of household comfort

and then we will have merry times at sweet little Sunnyside
With my love to all the flock
Your affectionate Uncle
