Dear Sir.
In reply to yours of Sept. 23d I wish to share that / my Contract on New Addition was with Mr / A. M. Hunter and not with Mr. A. D. Irving / Why is it that you have passed the work and / allowed Mr Hunter to pay me to the last [cert?cent?] / without finding any fault then, I think it rather / late for you to make any complaint.
There is three coats of paint more on all Dining / Room wood work and new doors alway through / the Building, than specifications calls for.
This Bill is for Contract on Old House only, / which is the Bill that you have made the / reduction on and not on Mr Hunter’s Contract / Bill for work done on New Addition has been / paid for long ago.
All I do want now is $25.00 balance on / Contract for Old House which was direct

From Mr A. D. Irving therefore I will not send / Certificate and Bill receipted before I am / paind in full.
I would like to Know what your idea was / in sending Certificate to Mr Irving instead / of to me.
As for your bill for [was?illegible] I have never received / it. I suppose the bill went like a good many / of your letters which you claimed to have sent / me which I have never received as yet.
I will pay your bill as soon as you sent me / Certificate for balance on Old House and the / Original bill from Butcher Polish Co.
Expecting a favourable answer soon, which / will avoid good deal of trouble, I remain
