A) Red ribbon with black and gold border tapers downward to gold clasp which attaches circular gold medal. Center of medal adorned with "American" eagle with a shield that has the letters "U. S." Laurel leaves encircle the eagle motif. B) Small card reads "The Cromwell Medal awarded for Distinguished Ordinance Service 1946".
