Curatorial Remarks

Note

Miscellaneous: Opodeldoc never seems to have been a "bitters" as Knittle mentions, but always a sort of external (linament) application; a sort of counter-irritant. Workers at Solomon H. Stanger's glass-works (Glassboro, N.J.) were paid, according to a ledger of 1852-1870, $.50 per dozen bottles blown, then (in time when farm workers were paid $1.00 per day), a fairly high wage.
