Note

The 2009 interpretive plan states that this piece is from the ship "Experiment" which sailed to China under Captain Stewart Dean in about 1784-1785 (only the second ship from the New Nation to reach China). However, it is NOT clear from any documentation that this is a historical fact. According to Bolton's History of Westchester County, Captian Dean brought "china" from China for General Pierrre Van Cortlandt and for James Caldwell. Which piece or pieces, and if they are part of the current HHV collection, remains a mystery [Jessa J. Krick, 7/26/2016].
