Curatorial Remarks

Note

Miscellaneous: Many such mugs exist, bearing scene of "Midnight Modern Conversation," based, sometimes quite roughly, on print of that title, c. 1732-33, by William Hogarth. Print shows group of drinkers at table with punchbowl, etc. V. also: VC.59.142, VC.59.162, VC.59.515.
