Murray's Defense of Toleration

Name/Title

Murray's Defense of Toleration

Entry/Object ID

MP.94.1354

Description

A monochromatic engraving of a nobleman -- being harassed by an angry man in a black gown pointing toward the altar. He is followed by three mean looking characters. The nobleman stands a step higher with his sword drawn, resting it on the floor like a cane. Next to him, a woman, concerned, holds her child close. Behind is a gathering of people in front of an altar with one woman kneeling in prayer at the dais. The whole scene takes place in a medieval castle setting. The print has been transplanted and integrated with a new page.
