HHV 003.112Context
Not long after my uncles arrival in London he / called upon one of his old acquaintances, and / one that had been a chum at college. He / was an old gentleman that had pafsed since / part of this life abroad and had brought home / a great deal of French + Italian furniture / and articles of taste, and was withal / a very tolerable connifseur. He was tall / and rather thin; it but still bore the re- / :mains of a fo-? [^ handsome] countenance & good [?-gace?]. / His head was bald, with some fine silvery / hairs about it; his face long; with a finely / arched forehead’ exprefsive black eyes, a / roman nose, and thin lips, which when / not speaking were ??-rbly slightly prefsed / together. My uncle found him elegantly / established in a house in square, / where he kept Bachelors [??] in superior style.
