Description
Engraved, fold out map of present day Netherlands and Belgium, and portions of France, Germany and England with blue slipcase and interior sleeve, the names "Washington Irving" and "William Wemyss" in pencil, mounted and matted: a) Map outlined lightly in pink and green, bears the title: "NOUVELLE / CARTE ITINÉRAIRE, / qui indique d'une manière très-exacte les Routes et Stations, ainsi que les / distances des principales villes / de FRANCE, D'ALLEMAGNE, et PAYS-BAS. / À AMSTERDAM / chez E. MAASKAMP.;" map extends from Holstein to the north to Strausbourg to the south, Paris from the east to Berlin to the west; North Sea coastline prominent; black and white scale forms the interior border, single black line the exterior; in lower right corner "W. Cr. Baarsel Sculps.;" b) blue slip case bears the ink inscription "Map of France / Germany and / the Low Countries;" cardboard body; c) interior sleeve of rectangular paper with cut corners and blue paper support at fold bears the names of Irving and Wemyss in pencil.
