Painting: Portrait, three-quarter length, of young man seated in front of writing desk within an interior: young man with brown hair and eyes sits with left arm crooked behind chair and right arm with hand clenched resting on arm of chair; wears white vest, stock, shirt and pants and a brown coat; neoclassical style arm-chair and writing table with green baize-covered slanting writing surface and open drawer; background includes neoclassical clock with urn finial, simple mantel and marble fireplace surround; red curtain at left; green, red, and black "diamond within diamond" patterned carpet;
b. Frame: Gilded frame with deep, concave molding with half-round edge and molded leaf device laid in each corner; liner (from outside in) of beading of three round beads alternating with one long one, a flat surface, and a curved surface; old brads hold painting in frame; eyehook at top of frame but painting hangs from two modern screws and wire.Artwork Details
