Description

One of a set of nineteen circular plates, "Floral Imari" pattern: scrolled rim, raised foot rim; decoration consists of transfer-printed, hand-tinted tones of blue (dark and light), green, orange, pink, yellow and gilt; a gilt band surrounds rim; border consists of three scrolled "plume" devices interspersed with three stylized carnation sprays with scrolls; center of plate features an asymmetrical basket with stylized flowers and branches; mark on base written in red: "1/438" and various signature marks in red: "+" with dots in each quadrant.
