Curatorial Remarks

Note

*Bell-metal is a mixture of copper and tin in the proportion of 4 to 1 (in Henry III's reign 2 to 1). (American founders used buffing wheels on their church bells to bring them to a high polish.) A posnet was a cooking pot with a handle, and usually three feet; a saucepan. Purchased by Curatorial Department for use of Interpretation Department, June 1975.
