Description

A pot de creme with underglaze, hand-painted in blue floral decoration in typical "Blue Fitzhugh" pattern of a circular shield surrounded by four floral arrangements, two on each side, one atop the other. The shield consists of a rosette in the center surrounded by a blue band with dragons in roundels at the poles interspersed with a diamond motif. This is surrounded by a blue band with a Nanking pattern radiating outward. The entwined double 'Leeds-type' handle terminates in a leaf design. The lid is domed with a 'berry and leaf' finial surrounded by a hatched dot(?) with two flowers and hatched diamond in background; opposite a tied bundle with leaves coming out of corners motif. The lid is surrounded by a Nanking border followed by a blue Canton-style band.
